Trained as a mechanical engineer, Belal chose a different path—one devoted to activism and social justice. His inspiring journey highlights the transformative power of service and the enduring fight for human dignity and rights.
Born a Palestinian refugee in Lebanon, Bilal Farhat has dedicated his life to empowering marginalized communities.
In August 2024, Bilal returned from Tunisia, where he was residing, to celebrate his birthday with family and attend to personal matters. However, on the very day of his arrival at the airport, Lebanon came under attack. Despite the chaos and danger, Bilal pressed forward with his journey instead of turning back, driven by an unshakable commitment to his hometown.
On September 23, 2024, he transformed his resolve into action, taking the lead in launching a grassroots movement to address the escalating Israeli aggression and the resulting displacement crisis in Lebanon.
What began as a heartfelt initiative quickly mobilized the Wadi el Zeineh community, uniting neighbors and friends to provide refuge, essential aid, and hope to families fleeing the devastation in southern Lebanon.
Bilal’s unwavering courage and leadership continue to inspire and bring light to a nation in need
Over the past 40 days, Bilal and a dedicated group of lifelong neighbors and friends have worked tirelessly to create safe, dignified spaces for displaced individuals.
Through their collective resolve, they have delivered shelter, food, medical assistance, educational resources, and emotional care, proving that hope and humanity can thrive even in the darkest times
